Have you ever lived in an apartment complex? Or maybe a house where there is no parking other than the street? If not, try to imagine coming home each night and finding a strange car parked in your driveway and you have to park down the street and walk to your house. How many times would it take before you blow your top.....? I can answer that question.... THE FIRST TIME!
If there is no designated parking then there really is nothing you can do... except leave your car a home and find other modes of transportation...
I live in a house that has been converted into apartments... I am the lucky one that can park under the carport. There are two other parking spaces out by the street. Those belong to the people in the apartment below me. Next door is a triplex that has no parking... there is however parking spaces up the street.
We are at war here!
The people in the triplex have friends who do not seem to know they should not park in our spaces... I have come home to find someone in my space.. and I sit on the horn until they come and remove their car... The same thing goes for when you need to go somewhere and there is a car blocking your exit...
So, I was pondering..... what makes a person not give a second thought to parking in a spot where they can clearly see they don't belong? And why do we feel a need to run out there and tell them off. We become territorial over those parking spots...
It reminds of a dog running to the fence and barking at people passing because they dared to do so. We also protect our territory just as fiercely as that dog does his...
I remember once working a double shift when I was in my twenty's and coming home so tried that I could hardly see. And low and behold some one was in my parking space. I had to drive around and around the block until a space several houses down opened up. When I reached my apartment and got inside the only way to get upstairs was to crawl...
So I was pondering on this and came to the conclusion that there was nothing I could do but stand behind my car holding a sign saying "Private Parking" now wouldn't that be a funny site to see.
